Wondering if the KFC Buffet in Japan is worth the hype?
If you’re planning a trip to Tokyo or Osaka and love fried chicken, this should be on your bucket list. With only two KFC buffets in the entire world, this is one of the most uniquely indulgent (and surprisingly family-friendly) food experiences you can have in Japan.
Yes — the KFC Buffet in Japan is absolutely worth visiting.
For a flat fee, you get 80 minutes of all-you-can-eat fried chicken, Japanese-inspired sides, and dessert. Located in Tokyo’s Minami-Machida Grandberry Park and Osaka’s Expo City, this is a one-of-a-kind food adventure you won’t want to miss.
I started this blog off strong with a bunch of articles on why Japan is one of the best, family friend destinations to try. It’s taken me a whole year to write this article, but I was saving the juiciest, most compelling reason on why you should make the trip to Japan for last (well, last for now, I’m sure I’ll be writing more Japan articles soon). If you have no reason to go to Japan, then let it be to simply try the All-You-Can-Eat KFC Buffet.Where to Find the KFC Buffet in Japan.
Little story, I love food. In fact, when travelling, the first thing I’m thinking about on the itinerary is where can I eat. I do admit, I’m a sucker for trying and sticking with local cuisine, but sometimes you just have to have western food. Especially when this is the only place you can try buffet style KFC.
But let’s get into why you came here, so you can find out how to try the all amazing, super juicy, incredibly crispy and scrumpdidiumpcious KFC buffet for yourself… Let’s go!
We visited the Tokyo location and can confirm: it’s “finger-lickin’” fantastic. The Minami-Machida restaurant is located inside a large outlet mall and is accessible via a 1-hour train ride from central Tokyo.
The Chicken — But So Much More – You’ll still get your classic Original Recipe chicken, but the buffet also features:
✅ Great value considering most meals at restaurants will cost nearly as much without the buffet and drink bar.
Absolutely. Kids love the food, and the atmosphere is clean, casual, and bright.
You’ll see Japanese families, tourists, and KFC fanatics all enjoying the experience side by side. There’s no need to speak Japanese — everything is intuitive and easy.
Dining at the KFC buffet is honestly fun. You’ll be greeted with the familiar aroma of fried chicken, but everything feels fresh, clean, and a little elevated. You grab a tray, help yourself, refill drinks at the station, and enjoy as much as you like during your time slot.
We visited around dinner time and while it was busy (we waited approximately 30 minutes from signing in at the kiosk for a number), we had no trouble once seated to go back for seconds (and thirds).
If you’re a foodie, a KFC lover, or just want to try something totally different while in Japan, this buffet is a must-try. It blends the comfort of American fast food with the thoughtful presentation and innovation of Japanese dining.
It’s fun, unique, and honestly? Delicious.
This isn’t just another fast-food meal — it’s an experience.
It’s located in Minami-Machida Grandberry Park, about 1 hour from central Tokyo by train.
Adults pay around ¥2,580 (~NZD $30) for 80 minutes of unlimited food. Kids receive discounted pricing.
Not always, but it helps. Visit during off-peak hours or try reserving ahead during weekends or holidays.
Yes, the buffet includes a salad bar, pasta, sides, rice dishes, and desserts — but it’s still very chicken-centric.
Yes. If you’re a fried chicken fan or love unique dining experiences, the trip is absolutely worth it.
