Got some valuable advice, tips or stories you’d like to share from your recent travels? Here are our guidelines for getting your work published on Pretty Far From Home.
We are small time content creators and travel bloggers and love to work with similar creators. If you would like to contribute to our community here is our current uploading schedule:
- We upload at least 1 blog a week that is written by us (on Tuesday evenings NZT)
- Guest posts are published on a Sunday evening (NZT)
- We have a resident guest author, whose guest posts will be posted every second Sunday until further notice, any new guest posts will be posted on alternating Sundays
We may change this at anytime without notice.
To help us, help you get your work published, please read the information below:
- Please do not approach us to wrote a blog post that focuses on pushing your blog, social media accounts to website – the answer will be a firm no.
- Please do not approach us if your content contains reference to gambling, drugs, illegal services (in New Zealand and generally abroad) or sexual services.
- We allow you to link back to your own blog, website or social media account once for each in the conclusion of your article – please do not include links throughout your article as they will be removed without notice.
- The article should have a point (you are sharing valuable tips, an entertaining story or a specific insight)
- Any posts that are generalised or in the format “5 of the XYZ for XYZ” will be declined
Specific post requirements
- Post should be 2000+ words or more (we will accept some posts with less on a case-by-case basis and at our discretion)
- Contact us at guestpost@prettyfarfromhome.com to confirm an appropriate post topic/destination
- You must include at least 6-10 original photos (no stock, unsplash etc. images) – we will check all photos against creative commons or public domain photos
- Include relevant and researched SEO words (please send proof)
- Please include your name and a 2-line bio about yourself with each article
What makes a great travel article for our blog?
- There are minimal spelling and grammatical mistakes – the post requires little editing
- The post is written from a personal perspective and demonstrates the author has visited the site, attraction or experience themselves
- The story has not been published or appears anywhere else
